Founding a Trauma Charity
Aiming to help those affected by PTSD including military veterans, domestic violence victims, and sexual assault victims
Whether we realize it or not, we have all been affected by traumatic events. Not everybody can withstand the same events as one another. I have lost far too many friends to the likes of PTSD and I have personally come close to dying on several occasions due to physical issues related to PTSD. We need to stop stigmatizing mental health. You can't always "suck it up" and men and women should feel safe to get adequate treatment. The problem nowadays is there are very few ways to seek such treatment. For example, I was once suffering from a panic attack with a blood pressure spike of over 200/150 and collapsed in the emergency room hospital. I have already gone blind from a ruptured retina from such an event going unchecked so when I was ignored by hospital staff for 8 hours and left to suffer without seeing a physician then kicked out without my consent with the same blood pressure I was flabbergasted.
If such open ignorance can happen to me, it's happening to many throughout our country. I want to help solve this problem for good and that means setting up a robust charitable infrastructure and not just blindly giving money to a charity. While reading the FEC campaign guide I discovered I'm able to disgorge funds to such a charity. I prefer to lead by actions over words so I'm in the process of establishing a charity to help with trauma victims including military veterans, domestic violence victims, sexual assault victims, and anybody else that is unfortunate to find themselves in such situations or under adjacent umbrellas to those suffering. Second-hand trauma does exist.
This charity will function like an investment to eventually grow and use its dividends to fund the research desperately needed so we can keep the principle growing in perpetuity. In order to accomplish this via campaign funds, I must receive explicit permission from donors. Since it takes time to properly establish a charity as well as set up our own payment processing for donations, this is why donations are not currently being accepted.
Lead via example not via a silver tongue.
